CustomFit LASEK

Personalized premium LASEK for each individual

CustomFit LASEK combines the strengths of M-LASEK and all-laser LASEK into a customized procedure that delivers the safest and clearest vision tailored to each patient's ocular condition. While conventional LASEK aligns the laser with the pupil center, CustomFit LASEK accounts for the fact that each patient's visual axis often does not coincide with the pupil — aligning the laser precisely with each individual's visual axis as a premium customized LASEK procedure.

For patients with larger pupils, the boundary between treated and untreated corneal areas can cause glare when the pupil dilates at night.

CustomFit LASEK creates a transition zone at this boundary, significantly reducing night glare and improving the quality of night vision. It also produces a smooth corneal surface so that the corrected vision remains stable over time.

Premium refractive correction with faster recovery — no alcohol, no blade

Conventional LASEK uses alcohol or a specialized brush (Amoils Epithelial Scrubber) to precisely remove the corneal epithelium — the outermost of the five corneal layers, which does not affect refractive power — and then applies an Excimer Laser to correct refractive error. Because no corneal flap is created, the procedure offers a high level of satisfaction in terms of surgical safety. However, it has the drawback of slower visual recovery and post-operative discomfort.

All-laser LASEK was developed to overcome these limitations.

Developed in 1997 by Dr. Johnson at the London Place Eye Centre in Canada, all-laser LASEK has been recognized by the American Academy of Ophthalmology for its superior surgical outcomes and faster epithelial regeneration compared to conventional techniques. The procedure removes the outermost corneal layer — the epithelium — using a laser rather than the chemicals used in conventional LASEK, then re-applies the laser to the corneal stroma, which governs the degree of refractive correction. Without the need to create a corneal flap as in LASIK, it eliminates the risk of flap-related complications and corneal ectasia, and minimizes side effects such as dry eye. In addition, recovery is more than a week faster than conventional LASEK, with a lower risk of corneal haze and myopic regression. It is also suitable for patients with small eyes or thin and steep corneas who are not candidates for LASIK, as well as those engaged in vigorous physical activities or sports as a profession or hobby.

CustomFit LASEK Surgical Process

The entire procedure runs on 100% computer-controlled all-laser equipment for precision and safety.

  1. STEP 1 - Topical anesthesiaSTEP 1

Disinfect the periocular area and apply topical anesthesia.

  2. STEP 2 - Epithelial removal by laserSTEP 2

Phase 1: an advanced laser removes the corneal epithelium.

  3. STEP 3 - Stromal reshapingSTEP 3

Phase 2: laser corrects myopia, astigmatism, and other refractive errors.

  4. STEP 4 - Final irrigationSTEP 4

A final irrigation removes any residual material.

  5. STEP 5 - Protective contact lensSTEP 5

A protective contact lens completes the procedure.

CustomFit LASEK Surgical Advantages

100% Laser Procedure

The outermost corneal layer — the epithelium — is removed not with the chemicals used in conventional LASEK, but with a laser. The same laser is then re-applied to the corneal stroma, which governs the degree of refractive correction.

Personalized All-Laser LASEK

Just as each person's personality and appearance differ, ocular conditions vary as well. CustomFit LASEK is a customized procedure that calculates each individual's corneal tilt, curvature, and pupil size.

Superior Refractive Correction Efficacy

By preserving the cornea's ideal pre-operative shape, CustomFit LASEK delivers significantly sharper vision. The epithelium is removed with a high-precision excimer laser rather than by the surgeon, and specialized instruments verify that the epithelium has been removed uniformly throughout the procedure.

Faster Recovery with Less Pain

Recovery is more than a week faster than conventional LASEK. Because no corneal flap is created as in LASIK, the risk of flap-related complications and corneal ectasia is reduced, and side effects such as dry eye are minimized.
