'Presbyopia' is an age-related condition

of 'difficulty focusing between near and far.'

It usually starts after age 40, with blurred near vision

and slower focal transitions.

Myopia

A refractive error in which light focuses in front of the retina due to an elongated axial length or excessive corneal/lens power. Distance vision appears blurred.

Astigmatism

A refractive error caused by uneven corneal or lens curvature. Light focuses at multiple points instead of one, producing blurred or doubled images.

Intraocular Lens (IOL)

What is an intraocular lens?

After the clouded crystalline lens is removed during cataract surgery, a biocompatible lens is permanently implanted in the capsular bag. Monofocal, extended-depth-of-focus (EDOF), and trifocal lenses are available, and the optimal choice is determined by precise biometry and the patient's lifestyle.

* Final IOL selection follows comprehensive biometry and consultation with our specialists; outcomes may vary by individual.

Quick Presbyopia Test

Presbyopia progresses very gradually, so early symptoms are easy to overlook. Check any of the items below that apply to you.
If 3 or more items apply, presbyopia may already be in progress — a comprehensive exam is recommended.

  • Small print in books or newspapers looks blurry; I hold reading material farther away.
  • Text on my smartphone appears blurred when I hold it close.
  • Reading in dim light is noticeably harder.
  • Shifting focus from near to distant objects feels slow.
  • Prolonged near work causes headaches or eye strain.
  • While driving, switching focus between the dashboard and road signs is difficult.

Through systematic, specialist-led consultation, JC Bitsomang Eye Clinic

helps you recover the best possible vision with a personalized Multi-IOL tailored to your lifestyle.

Rather than declaring any single IOL absolutely superior, each lens has its own characteristics. The right choice should be made based on the patient's individual condition, occupational demands, and lifestyle, supported by objective examination results — followed by thorough consultation before IOL selection.
