Dr. Gyung Bai Choi, a Graduate of Chung-Ang University College of Medicine, to Provide Free LASEK Surgery to Six Students
Free LASEK Procedures to Be Provided to 20 Students Each Year
Dr. Gyung Bai Choi, Director of JC Bitsomang Eye Clinic and an alumnus of Chung-Ang University College of Medicine, selected six students from his alma mater to receive free LASEK vision correction surgery.
At a ceremony held on April 20 at the main administration building of Chung-Ang University, then headed by President Ahn Kuk-shin, Dr. Choi pledged to provide free LASEK surgery to 20 students each year as a form of skills-based volunteering.
For the first phase of the program, six students were selected based on their academic performance and financial circumstances. Each student will receive a free LASEK procedure valued at approximately 1.5 million won.
Dr. Choi explained his motivation, saying, “This is the least I can do for students at my alma mater by contributing my professional expertise and helping prevent poor vision from placing them at a disadvantage in employment, graduate school admission or military service.”
