Dr. Gyung Bai Choi, 50, Director of JC Bitsomang Eye Clinic and an elder at Yoido Full Gospel Church, recently received an award at the 4th Korea Overseas Volunteer Awards, presented by the Korea International Cooperation Agency, or KOICA, and the Korea NGO Council for Overseas Development Cooperation, or KCOC.

The organizers explained that Dr. Choi was selected for the award because he had provided free surgery to approximately 2,260 cataract patients at risk of blindness in more than 10 underserved communities across six countries, including the Philippines, Vietnam, China and Bangladesh.

They also recognized his contribution to enhancing Korea’s international standing through humanitarian medical service.
