On November 29, 2016, JC BITSOMANG EYE CLINIC held a coal briquette delivery volunteer event.

A total of 15 staff members, including Medical Director Dr. Gyung Bai Choi and representatives from each department, participated in the event.

The volunteer work took place in Dangsan-dong, Yeongdeungpo, where our team delivered 1,500 coal briquettes to five households.

Despite his busy schedule, Dr. Choi joined the staff in personally carrying and delivering the briquettes. His participation encouraged everyone and gave the team even more energy.

Standing in a line, our volunteers carefully passed each briquette from person to person to prevent them from breaking. Although a single briquette may look small, each one weighs approximately 3.5 kilograms.

The team carried the briquettes through narrow alleyways and worked tirelessly until their faces and clothes were covered in black coal dust.

Our work did not end when the deliveries were complete. The volunteers also swept and cleaned the surrounding areas using the brooms and dustpans they had prepared in advance.

Teamwork has always been one of the greatest strengths of JC BITSOMANG EYE CLINIC. Seeing our staff walk together after completing the deliveries made us feel especially proud and grateful.

The volunteer work began on a cold and windy morning and continued until lunchtime. Although everyone was tired, our staff encouraged one another and continued working with smiles, thinking of the elderly residents who would be able to stay warm throughout the winter.

We are incredibly proud of every member of the JC BITSOMANG EYE CLINIC family who participated.

Since opening its doors, JC BITSOMANG EYE CLINIC has remained committed to serving communities through ongoing social contribution programs.

On August 14 of the same year, the JC BITSOMANG EYE CLINIC medical mission team also provided medical care in Tarlac Province, Philippines, helping restore sight to people who had lost their vision due to cataracts.

JC BITSOMANG EYE CLINIC will continue to practice compassion and share hope through community service and medical outreach programs both in Korea and around the world.
