A child’s visual system generally reaches an important stage of development between the ages of six and nine. Because changes in vision during this period may affect long-term visual health, careful attention from parents is particularly important.

Conditions commonly found in children, including myopia and amblyopia, require early detection and appropriate treatment. Regular ophthalmic examinations are therefore recommended.

Once myopia develops, it may continue to progress throughout the growing years, often until around the age of 18. Managing myopia progression during childhood may therefore help reduce the risk of it developing into high myopia.

Orthokeratology lenses are specially designed contact lenses worn while sleeping.

They temporarily reshape the cornea without surgery, providing correction for myopia and certain degrees of astigmatism while helping slow myopia progression.

For this reason, they are commonly considered a vision-correction and myopia-management option for children.
